how we work
Movement, Meet-Ups, and Mentorship form the foundation of everything we do. These three pillars reflect how we create, connect, and care, not just as artists, but as people.
Movement drives our choreographic work, giving form to emotion and voice to stories.
Meet-Ups create community through shared experiences.
Mentorship ensures the next generation of dance artists are supported intentionally artistically, professionally, and personally.
Together, these sectors create a full-circle model for sustainable, meaningful engagement in dance.
MOVEMENT
ART IN MOTION
Movement is the the backbone of FZD. Through dance, we process emotion, express identity, and imagine new ideas. Choreography and performance aren’t just about aesthetics, they’re about visibility, transformation, and communication without words. We provide a space for artists to create work that heals, challenges, and connects.
-
We create and stage contemporary dance works that center around topics such as mental health, identity, and social connection. Whether through self-produced events or partnerships with venues and festivals, our performances intend to engage communities.
-
Available for commissions across stage, film, education, and more. We bring a collaborative, intentional approach to storytelling through movement.
-
We love to co-create. Our collaborations invite artists across disciplines into shared authorship, blurring the lines between movement, voice, and visual art. Together, we build work that is bold, process-driven, and grounded in shared experience.
MENTORSHIP
Guidance for the artist and the human.
Learn to sustain a life in dance. We do this by offering guidance that is intentional, practical, and grounded in real experience. From choreography to business development, artists deserve support that sees their whole selves, not just their output. Especially in a mental-health-conscious era, mentorship can be the difference between burnout and breakthrough.
-
We support emerging choreographers in refining their voice, building process, and developing sustainable creative practices. Whether you're shaping your project or scaling your vision, we’re here to guide and challenge with care.
-
Learn the behind-the-scenes skills essential to bringing work to life. From budgeting and timelines to rehearsal direction and technical prep. Ideal for artists stepping into producing their own work or supporting others'.
-
Because building an artistic life also means learning how to run one. We offer practical, values-led support in everything from funding applications to branding and business structure, all with your path in mind.
meet ups
Beyond the performance
Meet-Ups respond to a deep need for belonging in the arts world. By creating intentional, low-pressure spaces for connection, collaboration, and conversation, we foster networks of care and community. Whether it’s a supper club or a post-show talk back, these gatherings humanize the artist experience, spark new ideas, and remind us we’re not doing this work alone.
